Esmeralda Alcaraz, Class of 2006

Esmeralda Alcaraz is a senior at DCP. When she entered DCP in her sophomore year she was an average student, but over the past
few years she has steadily worked to become one of the top students in her class. Esmeralda is a strong leader on campus--she is
President of MEChA and the Editor of the school newspaper. She is often described as a "pistol" with a strong drive and great
sense of humor.
Victor Avila, Class of 2006
"Victor is a boy on fire."

Victor Avila is a fifth year senior at DCP. When he realized that repeating his junior year would open more
college doors,
Victor elected to repeat the grade level in order to raise his GPA.
He raised his GPA from a 1.8 to a 2.8. While mostly focused on schoolwork, Victor is an important and commanding presence
on the DCP campus. Victor is interested in attending Long Beach State.
Maria Barrera, Class of 2007
"Maria is genuinely interested in learning and engaging in her learning community."

Maria Barrera is a junior at DCP. She entered DCP very skilled and briefly transferred to a private high school
in her sophomore year but decided to return to DCP because of the strong community she felt at DCP. Maria is highly
committed to her academic studies and maintains an 'A' average. She is also deeply involved in a number of
extra-curricular activities including MEChA, San Jose Leadership Academy and Spoken Word.
Maria helps many fellow students by tutoring and sharing her artwork.
Fernando Toledano, Class of 2007
"Fernando is our resident cool school boy."

Fernando Toledano is a junior at DCP. While Fernando enjoys spending time with his friends, he is highly motivated to
do well at school and shows great pride in his accomplishments including maintaining a steady place on the Honor Roll.
Fernando is particularly interested in math and science and is currently on track to take A.P. Calculus in his senior year.
During his time at DCP, Fernando interned at a high-tech company and has been involved in the DCP Robotics Club.
