DCP began its journey in the summer of 1999 by conducting a pilot program
for a small, college-prep high school in downtown San Jose.
- DCP was the first, and remains the only,
charter high school in Santa Clara County to focus on low-achieving
urban minority students who will be the first in their families to go
to college.
- 390 students in grades 9 through 12
- 97% are minority students
- 39% are English Language Learners
- 65% qualify for free or reduced lunch
- 20 is the average class size
- 100% of graduates are accepted to four-year
colleges
